What is a Doula?

What does DONA certified mean?
Being DONA certified means that I have completed rigorous training and met specific requirements set by DONA International, one of the leading organizations for doula certification. This includes attending a DONA-approved doula training workshop, completing required readings, and fulfilling childbirth education components. As a DONA-certified doula, I am committed to upholding professionalism, ethical standards, and ongoing education in the field of childbirth support.

Can I have a doula if I'm planning a cesarean birth or have a high-risk pregnancy?
Yes, doulas can provide valuable support during cesarean births and high-risk pregnancies. They can offer emotional support, assist with birth planning, provide guidance during the surgical process, and support postpartum recovery and adjustment.

Do doulas replace medical professionals?
As a doula, I do not replace medical professionals. My role is to complement the care provided by doctors, midwives, and nurses. I offer continuous support, personalized attention, and advocacy throughout the birthing process. However, I do not perform clinical tasks or provide medical advice. My focus is on providing emotional support, comfort measures, and informational guidance to ensure that you feel empowered and supported during your childbirth journey.

Are your services covered by insurance?
While some insurance plans may offer partial reimbursement for doula services, coverage varies widely. I'd advise you to check with your insurance provider to determine if doula services are eligible for reimbursement or if there are any out-of-pocket expenses.

Do you offer payment plans for your services?
Yes, I understand that the cost of doula services can be a concern for many families. I offer flexible payment plans to accommodate your budget and ensure that you have access to the support you need during your pregnancy and birthing journey.

What's the difference between the Comprehensive and Deluxe Package?
The biggest difference between the Comprehensive and Deluxe Packages is the private 1:1 birth course provided in the Deluxe Package. Previous clients have shared that this class greatly aided their feelings of preparedness ahead of their birth.
